(Washington DC) – Today the Senate agreed to an amendment introduced by U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV), the State-Based Sage-Grouse Amendment (S.AMDT.293). This amendment ensures that the Bureau of Land Management collaborates with western states to prevent the listing of the sage-grouse under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
“A listing of the sage-grouse as an endangered species would have a devastating impact on Nevada’s economy. Collaboration among the states, the federal government and other stakeholders will go a long way towards protecting Nevadans’ way of life as well as ensuring a sustainable sage-grouse population,” said Senator Dean Heller.
