(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Dean Heller issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2016 (H.R. 2028), which included funding aimed at developing the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository against Nevada’s will. Specifically, the bill provides $150 million for the Yucca Mountain High-Level Waste Geologic Repository and $25 million to progress the license application.

“Today’s actions in the House of Representatives, supporting legislation to set aside millions of dollars to fund Yucca Mountain, emphasize complete disregard for the people of Nevada. The federal government has already wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on this ill-conceived and deeply flawed project. It is time Members of Congress realize Yucca is dead,” said Senator Dean Heller.
