(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) issued the following statement after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) released the “Supplement to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Environmental Impact Statement for a Geologic Repository for the Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive Waste at Yucca Mountain, Nye County, Nevada”:

"Instead of attempting to force a nuclear waste dump against the will of Nevadans, proponents of Yucca should identify communities willing to host long-term repositories. That is the only viable solution to our nation's nuclear waste problem. Anything short of that is a waste of taxpayers' dollars," said Senator Dean Heller.
