WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a video released today, U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) highlighted the U.S. Senate’s recent action to confirm President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees. This week, the U.S. Senate, with Heller’s strong support, confirmed two conservative judges: Elizabeth L. Branch to sit on U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and A. Marvin Quattlebaum to sit on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Watch the video HERE or by clicking on the image below.

“This past fall, I urged my Senate colleagues to work 24/7 to pass tax reform and confirm more judges. Since my push, we confirmed nearly 20 of the President’s judicial nominees,” said Heller. We need to keep up the pace. I’m a strong proponent of confirming judges who uphold the rule of law as opposed to making it. I know that it matters who serves on these courts, and that’s why I will continue my push to put more judges on the bench who will defend the Constitution.”

The recent confirmations bring the U.S. Senate to a total of 26 confirmed judges, including Justice Neil Gorsuch and 14 circuit court judges, since the beginning of the 115th Congress. In fact, the U.S. Senate confirmed more circuit court judge nominees under President Trump than the U.S. Senate confirmed under any other president during their first year in modern history.

In October, Heller pushed his colleagues to work full-time, 24/7 to fulfill the chamber’s constitutional responsibility of nominating judges to the federal bench. At the time, the Senate had confirmed only seven judges.

Since Heller’s call to speed up the number of confirmations, the Senate has confirmed an additional 19 judges.
